History of the White Raven Center
An Ancient Prophesy Realized

Throughout the Tribes in Alaska, From the Yupik people of the Northwestern Delta to the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian of the Southeast waters, there are legends, prophesies and stories that tell us about how Raven, who in the beginning was white, turned black in the process of bringing light to Humanity. Raven was so connected and had so much compassion for mankind that he sacrificed a part of himself, forgetting who he really was and accepting the shadow of darkness. It is said that one day, after a long period of darkness, mankind will awaken, reconnect with spirituality and, when this happens, Raven will turn white once again.

In the last several years, there have been sightings of ravens whose feathers are turning white, in the YK Delta and Southeast areas of Alaska. Today White Raven is well known to the people of the Queen Charlotte Islands. Many Tribes believe that Raven is a messenger from the spirit world, a bringer of light and a reminder to live with joy, laughter and playfulness. Raven tells us at times "to make light of ", to have a sense of humor and to remember that it is not our task to carry all the burdens of the world or to take life "too seriously". White Raven is a healer and bringer of the light that connects us to our true spirit and to unconditional love for ourselves and all of mankind.

Awakening the Light Within

It is with the spirit of Raven and with the intent to increase healing opportunities for individuals, couples, whole families and entire communities that White Raven Center came into being. We know that healing happens from the inside out and that fulfillment comes only from inside ourselves. Material objects are for fun, recreation and convenience, and are never to be identified with or given power when it comes to inner fulfillment. When we identify with and depend upon material objects, status, image, position, title or anything outside of ourselves to feel valuable and worthy of being shown love, repect, kindness, honor, acceptance or trust, we give away our power by succumbing to the illusion that we need these external measures to be complete and whole. We betray ourselves by denying the truth that we are all complete and whole in this moment. What is flawed and broken is our perception.

Our nation has a long history of external focus in our search to acquire fulfillment and resolve social problems, a good explanation for our present state of spiritual poverty and addiction. The degree or level of an individual’s inner fulfillment determines the degree of harmony in a person's outward physical reality. Therefore, we know the path to healing is always first about cleansing and purification of our core being, and then about nurturing and developing our skills, gifts and talents to share with humanity. To fully achieve global peace, first peace, balance and harmony must be restored within each individual. Ultimately, it is who we become as individuals and the degree to which we love and accept ourselves, not what we do that has the power to heal the world. For coming from a place of complete, unconditional self-love and acceptance we bring the frequency of love and light into whatever we do.

White Raven Center was formed to create increased opportunities for advanced alternative healing. We offer a wide range of services specially designed to empower and meet the unique treatment needs of individuals, couples, families and groups. Whereas our forcus and intent is to offer a process for emotional and spiritual liberation to all who desire to truly heal and claim their full power as co-creators, we have a deep committment to helping the Alaska Native community to heal. We draw on the rich and powerful heritage of this land and honor the Athabascan people who have called this region of southcentral Alaska their home for thousands of years.

White Raven Center is about creating opportunities to shift old patterns of victimization, hiding, projecting and blaming and to bring into the light of conscious awareness unresolved feelings from the past that drain us of vital energy needed to create what we truly want from our lives. This can be accomplished by identifying one’s emotional issues and learning how to transform heavy negative feelings into positive light ones.

The approach involves in-depth exploration of core beliefs, defenses and coping skills, in a way that will facilitate openness to one’s full creative self-expression,, inner peace and true freedom of heart. Through a process of awakening, through deep breathing, the stored energy and memory of unresolved feelings from this and previous lifetimes is released anparticipants learn how to eliminate destructive patterns, transform unwanted negative energies and free themselves from old blocks to self-healing.

With focus and hard work, individuals will gain a deeper awareness of self and experience core level transformation that is truly life changing. For mental health, substance abuse counselors and other social service workers, the skills learned will be invaluable in assisting others.
